Hi all you deep sky imagers. :hi:

After a few months building my new astro-imaging platform I've finally got some first light images.

Eta Carina is a 75-minute exposure @ ISO 200
(hires http://www.skylab.com.au/PMSA/ngc3372g.html)

The Tarantula Nebula is a 99-minute exposure @ ISO 200.

Telescope is still a 12-inch f/5 Newtonian telescope on Losmandy Gemini G-11 equatorial mount. Camera Canon EOS 300D Digital (modified) focused with DSLR Focus. Autoguided with SBIG 402 CCD on 4.5-inch f/9 guidescope using CCDSoft. 2" Baader Multi-Purpose Coma Corrector (MPCC). 2" Baader UV/IR Rejection Filter. Image Processing Iris, Photoshop.

Beautiful images, Paul! Great to see you back!

I've got a 12" GSO newt, same as you now! Mine's on an EQ6.. I wish it was on a G11! :)

Hi Paul

No deep sky yet, just more accurate tracking for planetary. I don't want to move the mirror up the tube to bring it to focus with my 350D. I'll get an ED80 for deepsky at some stage (in the future).

Rob, the 12" newt is about 21kg.

The OTA weighs just on 20kgs with the standard 2" crayford focuser but I shortened my OTA length, so other OTAs may weigh slightly more.
