here's my go at M83. Stack of six images-three minutes each. autoguided.
Processed in photoshop..levels stretched and some colour adjustment
Imaged on Monday night - big bright half moon.
I was actually hunting NGC 2944 but by the time we got the scope set up and star aligned it had gone behind the stupid palm tree that is my pet hate.
Anyway had a quick attempt at M83.
Got the image size wrong-wanted to capture RAW and instead captured in 'small size normal " so image scale is small
Oh well there' s always another night

Really great shot, very nice colours.. You're getting the hang of this DSLR imaging so quickly.. i can't wait to see the results you'll be producing in a month or two.

Man, as Ice said, you have latched onto this DSLR imaging quickly. Maybe you should come across and give a talk at the astro photo weekend.
Nice work.
brilliant. love galaxy shots.
It makes me want to go to a dark site somewhere and hunt them down :)

Your coming along nicely Seeker. Mastering the process very quickly!!
Did you do specific processing on just the Galaxy? I see a distinct ring of hase around it... Note, not a criticism, just a comment. But I initially wondered how you got such a dark star background with such a bright moon.
Wonderful stuff. Looking forward to more.

Beautiful shot Finder! Is that the natural colour, or were you using some sort of filter. If it'e the real colour, that $%@#ing amazing!!
See you on 7 May.

the colour is close to what the camera recorded but the levels were stretched a bit in blue channel. no filter.

Now that you say it I can see the ring around the galaxy but I'm not sure what is due to.
I'm beginning to think that this was a NeatImage artifact.
Attached is the stacked image before Neatimage and before colur tweaking ..I think you can see there are wispy tendrils that seem to go around the galaxy pre Neat Image.
This seems to show up as a ring in the posted (Neated)image...I think

the ring is the outer halo of the galaxy, it has some extensions it is not perfectly round , find some professional images and comper your image and you will see what mean. Ron
