Howdy all,

Seems BOSS have made it's 187th discovery this evening from our Leyburn observing site.
While imaging in Pavo I took an image of NGC6753 and found a bright new object around mag 16.
Greg Bock, Pat Pearl and I have confirmed it's details and reported it to the Transient Name Server (TNS) where it has received the designation AT 2019mhm, discovered by the three of us.
Shortly after discovery Pat took the below longer exposure image.
Will be interesting to see if this object brightens as we are suspecting it may be a very young Supernova.
Those at the Qld Astrofest may want to also image this new discovery.

Well done Pete, Pat and Greg - shame I missed the party this weekend.

I have setup a daily photometry run on the school observatory. Processing the data might be beyond my capabilities, but we’ll see if cleverer people can do something with it.

Thank you Ron, sincerely appreciated. Seems to have brightened a bit, wonder if you can get in 16inch?

An ATel (Astronomers Telegram) has just been released showing the new object to be a type 2 Supernova at/around optical maximum.
This should be a great target for astro-imagers.

Congratulations Peter and the BOSS team!

I managed an hour in a cloud gap tonight, luminance only with a 10" F4 Newtonian and ZWO ASI 183mm Pro.

You used the right gear for the right job!

I would send that to David Bishop Bright Supernova Page
