Hi all,

Given my quite unsuccessful experiment with HaNIISII (https://www.astrobin.com/full/416173/B/) Trifid, I added OIII to the mix, and therefore present HaSIINIIOIII Trifid (https://www.astrobin.com/full/417063/0/?nc=user).

Almost half a century of data (50 hours) through my 105mm guidescope from our backyard in Whitsundays.

Full resolution (https://cdn.astrobin.com/thumbs/yMDCav4k6lT2_16536x16536_wmhqkGbg.j pg)for the curious.

And my attempt at Trifid from 5 years ago (https://cdn.astrobin.com/images/thumbs/2b94d956f55fdac80dad30317598e948.16 536x16536_q100_watermark.jpg). One of the attached images shows the two side-by-side.

Thank you for looking :hi:

I think the mushrooms in your pierogi might be golden caps Suavi... :P

Superb! Things that immediately leap out:

- The double star on the PussyCat's nose is very well resolved into a double double.
- The Herbig-Haro jet is crystal clear and sharp.
- Even the reflection nebulosity has snuck through the OIII filter and is there.
- The comparison with the old image is compelling.

Wonderful work.

Best,
MnT

Certainly I have ventured off the beaten path with Trifid this season:lol:

Thank you Mike and Trish.

I tweaked the image a bit and I think I got all I could out of my data at this stage in my journey as an amateur imager, so it is time to start planning the next target.

The final Trifid in this season from me: https://www.astrobin.com/full/417063/C/?nc=user

Space is the Place man! Love the image. Thank heavens I don’t need mushrooms to see such wonderful things :-)

Now you're talkin" - That's been properly well & truly Suavi-fied :D

Bold, & punchy, like a Neon Astro sign on the Vegas strip - nicely done sir!

A complex chemical soup presented in a very colourful manner. Makes for fine viewing.

Thank you Ben, Andy and Rodney - much appreciate your comments :hi:

It was a really challenging object to represent in pure narrowband while including surrounding fainter nebulosity. No doubt Trifid looks best in a familiar red and blue when done very well like in Andy's recent images, but my goal was to do just narrowband and I was keen to try including NII, so there you go.

My next image might be just HaRGB for a change and because I really like Lee's recent HaRGB Lagoon. That is unless I will yet again indulge in pierogi spiked with golden cups mushrooms

It’s really good Suavi! Yours as a lot more contrast than the rendition I did a while back and I think I know why.... near 10x the amount of data

Placidus picks out all of the major components. Very well done

You have brought out so much detail.

A great looking photo Suavi.

Been cool watching you tackle this (impossible ;)) project Suavi  ...some interesting :scared: combos and certainly plenty of nice details buuuuut I'm afraid, you have only reinforced my view that the Trifid just doesn't suit NB  Still a worthwhile project and certainly not a criticism as such of your work, loved watching you progress with it :)

Thank you Ross :hi:

No worries Mike - I nearly threw in the towel a few times during this project. Collecting NII was a bit of waste of time, and although I was disappointed that I lacked skills to make narrowband Trifid more eye-pleasing, overall I am quite happy with the final result.

Next project will be HaRGB

And I think I now have eliminated flexing issues :-)

The difference in resolution over the last 5 years is amazing. I'm still on the left hand image. ;)

We had a good run of clear nights there for a while. Back to normal cloud now unfortunately.

Thank you Mike - yeah, it was my first image where I hit a century with total integration. Now awaiting clear skies to continue with my new HaRGB image of...that's a secret :)

Thank you Kevin. Hopefully we well get a few clear nights soon, unfortunately the big bright one will be up too shining splendidly in his full glory.

An absolutely beautiful view of the Trifid, Suavi - so different from the usual rendition. Love it:eyepop:

Thank you Richard :hi:

The secret is out now!

Glad you like it Trevor - it took me a while to get used to the colour scheme in this image and to accept it as a final version

Just saw the final edit. Wow, that is a great image. So unique and some tendrilled nebula surrounding it that I haven't seen before.

A great and impactful colour scheme as well. It would make a striking print on your wall.

Greg.
