Hi all

I finally processed all the data from the session on the 15th in order to make this 14 frame animation. It took ages! I had to process each avi twice, once for Jupiter and once for the moon..

30 passes through registax, astraimage and photoshop, and here is the result.

Each avi was captured at alternating fps, 15fps (1/15s exposure) and 30fps (1/30s exposure) so unfortunately there's some colour balance/brightness mismatches but it's not too bad.

The seeing improved as the session went on, and the last 4-5 images are amazing. Every image has some detail on ganymede, though in the earlier images where the seeing was less than average, there's more artifacts than real detail. The last few images have incredible detail on Ganymede.

You can view the animated gif here: (600k gif)

Thanks for looking, comments welcome.

Congrats, Mike.

That is really very nice.

You can definitely see the improvement in seeing toward the end of the animation.

The festoons and other "surface" details, particularly through the equatorial region, really sharpen up in the later frames.

Ganymede is very impressive:thumbsup:

Very nice Mike. This is the first animation that I have seen where there is significant detail on Ganymede in each frame. Fascinating watching Gany's shadow become more oblate as it drifts off the planetary disc too! Lot's of interesting solar system dynamics here.

Cheers

Dennis

Thanks for the comments, guys. Animations take a LOT of work but I really enjoy watching them over and over again.
