Will polemaster work for me?

Hi Everyone - Here is the view of the southern sky from my backyard. I was thinking of buying polemaster to make my life easier as my setup is not permanent

My questions are as follows:

1. Is the FOV for polemaster small enough so I can align without hitting the neighbours roof as cutoff. This is important, cause the last thing I need is the software telling me to pick stars through the roof.

2. I'm in western sydney the skys are quite light polluted. The photo was taken using gopro and was wondering if polemaster will have issues picking up the stars around sigma octantis. Cause I for hell cannot see anything my eyes and the gopro struggles as well.

I use the polemaster in my light polluted backyard in melbourne with no issues,
As for your roof issue have you tried to look at octans with your polar scope? If so then you should not have an issue with the polemaster as it's on the same [plane depending on your mount
Also can you make your tripod taller to assist roof clearance?
What mount are you using?

Losmandy G11 and I dont have the polarscope.

I'm trying to overlay the 11 degrees x 8 degrees FOV for polemaster over the image attached herein. You can see the southern cross in the image which is roughly the polemaser FOV so I'm assuming there should be enough clearance.

Just letting everyone or anyone who may stumble upon this!



It works and its made setting up so much easier and has taken the daunting part of astronomy out for me.


Only caveat is getting the drivers to work on Win 10! I had to use beta drivers "PoleMaster_Qt_V1.3.4_Setup_EN" as the website version does not work.
