Looks great, the WO Redcat appears to deliver (operators skill considered), any news on the updated version of the Redcat being released in August yet?

Well that is it in a nutshell isn't it
Give a £30 camera to a professional and a £3000 camera to a complete beginner and the professional will deliver.
It is all to do with who is using it, NOT what the equipment is.
I have seen images taken by people on a DOB forum using a £300 dob to produce images that some with £5k of scope can only dream of
Any results can be good if you know what you are doing, had it not been said what the scope was it could have been taken with ANY scope

I suspect the point of my post has been lost.
Lance (a fellow professional aviator) took this photo with a 250mm Telephoto and Sony 071 chipped one shot camera.
He uses a nearly decade old Losmandy G-11, and while a 250mm lens is hardly going to task most mounts...the result frankly blew me away.
My point was: with a good OSC camera, heck of a nice telephoto lens, star tracker and pristine dark sky, the result can be stunning.
Sure if you don't know your base from you apex, the results can be rather sad....but duh...this is not an expensive system....which has me pondering
the ROI on some of the seriously expensive stuff stuff I use.
Times they are a changin'..........

I would like to see a "professional" get that shot with a hand held pin hole camera to demonstrate their apparent god like ability☺.

I hear ya. Lovely detail and colour, but most of all I like the creaminess of the gas clouds.

Somehow, i don't see you selling the Alluna or the Honders to buy a WO 51mm Petzval...

Nice shot. I have one of these and also imaged Rho.
Where did you hear there is an updated version coming? Its only new and in the hands of customers about 2 months or so.
Greg.

In email exchange with a WO rep while inquiring about the discounted Redcat
with coating damage on the WO site {another IIS member alerted me to it}. Wouldn't give details except the new updated version will be out mid/late august, maybe montior WO facebook page and William Yangs personal facebook page for further alerts on progress.
Also monitor Astroshop china {aliexpress}......

True enough. But a cooled OSC camera is now part of my imaging ensemble.

I use the SX SXVR M26C (foolishly thought to sell it recently) and it is superb and VERY sensitive - and I don't know my apex from my aileron...
I suppose you could sell the Alluna and buy 500 RedCats, and make a big array....

Thanks Beren. My copy seems to be very good so not looking for an updated product but curious about it.
Greg.
