This was my last minute attempt to produce an entry for the Memories of Apollo section of the DMA.
I wanted to produce a hi res RGB image of the landing area of Apollo 11, but by the time the sky cleared in May, and the Moon was high enough, the illumination was not suitable so I went for an "astronauts view" image instead.
The seeing was rather mediocre and the B channel was barely usable, resulting in a rather soft image, although that may not be the reason for not getting shortlisted. I guess there were more interesting entries, but looking at the released thumbnails, I find it difficult to connect some of them with Apollo memories.

A somewhat larger version in my ASV gallery: http://asv.org.au/gallery?dir=Stefan%20Buda

The “orbital perspective” isn’t one I’d considered before but it’s come up quite well Stefan

Thanks everyone for the comments.

The Moon is very grey visually so what the astronauts would have seen was closer to a monochromatic image. I prefer RGB as it seems to bring lunar images alive when the colour saturation is increased a bit.
