Hi Folks

Did anyone else see a large green/white ball of light head roughly west to east at around 8:45 pm tonight? No tail and moving 'relatively' slowly. It lasted for about three seconds before disappearing from my field of view.

Yes I went outside to look at Jupiter and just as I opened the door and looked up, I saw a bright green flash, then I actually came inside and told my wife, kids must be setting of fireworks :stupid:

Thanks Simon - I was in the car at the time and thought that I might have been seeing things! Certainly the biggest, and one of the nicest, I have seen. Nothing about it in the news though.

The meteor dashcam footage was on the ABC news and I saw it being promoted on at least one of the commercial news telecasts as well.
Would have been quite an spectacular sight, one day I might see one up here.

I womder how many go un noticed and unreported.
I saw one a couple of months ago ( once I would have recored details in a journal but for some reason dont keep yhat sort of journal now ☺) to the E / SE ..I had my back to it and noticed my shadow on the lappy table..I thought it was a car coming up the drive so it must habe been very bright...I turned and it was a beauty ..so maybe half a second before I turned and half a second visual..hard to tell from the you tube vid but seemed same height and mine would be not quite as bright ...It was probably 2 am but not sure but late...I did not report it or mention it and I dont know that it made the news...and last month saw one just above the horizon, again very late, and I thought it would have been East of Brisbane...
I wonder if weather sats pick them up...my point I suppose is do we really have any idea how many are about...I mean I saw two whoppers that apparently went un noticed...
Are dash cams and old men up late all we have got?

Thanks for sharing the link JA - that's pretty much what I saw, but without the tail.

I saw a very bright one about 10 days back over Warragul too. Maybe the satellite wars have started?
