Mount for 12 inch refractor

Hi all I am looking at buying a skywatcher esprit ed80 with mount for a start into astro photography. I currently have a 12inch dobsonian which really is just a big refractor any way . My question is would a eq 6 pro handle the weight of the 12 inch reflector
I was originally only going to get a eq5 pro with the esprit 80 but than thought I Might be able to utilize the mount to carry the 12 inch

To answer you question. Probably not a hope. The moving mass of a 12" scope is significant and it would make an eq6 very unstable I imagine. Just in case you are confused:
a 12" reflector is very different to a 12" refractor - Mirror V Lens respectively.
A 12" refractor would be worth $40k++++ and be a shocker to mount, period.

Sure you can, better if you put it on a pier but the neq6 pro will handle the weight of a 12" newt. A big tube like that won't like the wind at all though and will make imaging difficult except on very still nights. The Heq5 is a great mount but if you can afford it get the bigger mount.

Hi,
Having just bought an NEQ6 it's a great mount, but I think the max payload for astrophotography would be around 12kg. The quoted capacity is 18.5 or 20kg, and I think you need to be very conservative when setting up for AP.
The 12" in the link Rick provided weighs 25kg, so in my opinion is probably pushing it a bit too much.

I am firmly with Rom on this. Some years ago I tried a 12 inch Newt on an EQ6 for visual. It wobbled like a blancmange.
