NGC 6357 Lobster

3 hours of 5&7 minute subs with IDAS D2 filter.

Not bad, but nowhere near the clarity of a much shorter Ha image I took. If the L-enhance filter doesn't do the job I might move into bi-colour imaging for some objects.

Your getting a lot of imaging time outside which is producing some great images
Well done again !!
If I could only make one observation, it seems the modded camera may not be picking up various colours in the Stars after processing. All the stars seem to be the same colour , although some very faint ones in the interstellar background look like they may have some blue
My camera is unmodded and most of my images have natural various star colours irrespective of being a galaxy , Nebula or cluster
It’s not a criticism but my own observation

I can see some yellow stars - I wonder if an increase of the yellow and blue and decrease of the red saturation would be any use?

I would ask if you used a custom white balance that included the IDAS filter ?

I've tried various white balance options including custom with the IDAS D2 in place, but eventually settled on the 'sunshine' option in the camera.

There is a way to calibrate star colours in Pixinsight but I haven't bothered yet. I'm currently concerned with getting more detail in the nebulosity.

Some of the brightest nebulae might look better with the unmodded camera but the extra signal from the Ha modification is a major advantage.

Nice work I see. I’ve tried using a Baader UV/IR cut filter with my modded DSLR at low ISO this seems to bring out the star colour whilst maintaining Ha signal for nebulosity.

Thanks Anthony. I think the IDAS D2 I used also works as a cut-off for the ends of the spectrum.

Beautiful! Today I will be imaging the Lobster Neb for the second night. Trying 5 minutes frames with the Canon 50D mod, ISO800. Hope to get an image as beautiful as yours!!!
