Hi Folks,

A quick question. I have been trying to photograph Jupiter with a Nikon P1000 and am having a few issues with main one being focus.
I chose Moon mode as it's focus is supposed to be infinity and stay there. What I am experiencing is the focus starts out OK but quickly changes and I'm left with a large circular object.

Why does the focus change when the camera is supposed to be fixed at infinity?

I'd be interested in your responses.

Thanks.

If you get no answer here, I think the Nikon Coolpix forum at DPreview would give you the answer, where you could either post there or perhaps message this chap who seems to have mastered the P1000 on Jupiter.

I have the much older P500 and never thought to aim it at the moon.

Take it out of "moon mode" and use manual focus on the moon or stars with focus magnifier.

I was going to suggest the same. I have a P900 for work and manual focus is much more predictable. I use the side zoom toggle for it.
