Hi all
I was sent the following by Greg Priestly, to post on IIS to alert our astrophotographers about the astroimaging competition at this years SPSP!
Lots of prizes on offer, and a different voting system for winners too!
Check it out in the attachment, or more at:
http://www.asnsw.com/spsp/imagingcomp.htm
I can see a lot of Comet McNaught entries this year!
Of course this competition is geared for attendees more than the general imaging fraternity. No attendance= -1 votes. :screwy:
Since I am unable to attend the SPSP (for family reasons), why would I bother entering that particular imaging competition:shrug:

I've got no images but if I read correctly my "vote" might win me a camera!
How cool is that?

Houghy what about your shots from duckadang?
Doug I thought that you could have a representative there?
Scott - yeh I saw that too. Very cool. I just hope the voting doesn't end up as a popularity contest.

oh didnt think of that, that was ages ago, like july 2006? Besides they aren't that great, only to me they are a PB!!
hOughy, July 2006 qualifies, and if you attend, you can at least get 0ne vote. That could be one point more than someone who doesn't attend.
Mike the problem is that it is the imagering contestants who get to vote. (never mind the public 'wow' vote) If we both put in a Jupiter image for example, would you be prepared to forego your own vote so that you could do a proxy vote for me?.............really? :thanks:
Talking to the organizer to-night revealed thay now contestants will no longer be permitted to vote for their own work and proxy voting is not allowed either. Should be a good event afterall.
