What's not to love about the Ha filter - a mono nebula image in Ha is a thing of beauty. Just thought I'd post my first attempt at Ha - Eta Carina taken late last month from my backyard in central Victoria with Moon at 90%. Taken with a SkyWatcher ED100 Apo fitted with a 0.85 reducer (f7.6) - imaged with a ZWO183MM-Pro and ZWO Ha filter. About 30 x 180s subs. Just need the clouds to clear!! Cheers!

That’s a nice setup for some quite high resolution Ha images, you’ve captured the detail quite well :)

Thanks Colin - I'm more interested in the structure of these deep sky objects than their pretty pictures - mind you colour is great as well - would love to see them in 3-D. Am just starting out so yet more to do! Cheers

Thanks Marc - really looking forward to using it on some of the other beauties out there - if only the skies clear long enough! Cheers

Damian,
That’s a rippa ha image mate! Off to a flying start and heaps of potential with your setup I can see. I’ve visited “Tat” on many occasions (my mother’s side of the family have lived there for generations - dairy farming and orchards). It’s a lovely town and I’m sure you are going to take full advantage of the dark skies out there in the flat paddocks. Good luck, looking out for more of your posts.
Well done & Cheers,
Anthony

Thanks Anthony
I'll keep chippin away and it'd be great to crack on except the clouds are not behaving after the sun goes down at the moment. I'm reasonable lucky to be in Tatura but I have a basketball stadium and soccer ground about 100m behind the house so when the floodlights are on (most nights) I may as well be in a capital city. Hence I don't point the scope north and it's another reason for the switch across to narrowband filters! Cheers :D
