It's been so long that I've done any astronomy, let alone imaging. The other night it was clear so I thought I would have a go at capturing the GRS... while we still can, right? It also happened to opposition night AND The GRS was transiting well before crossing the meridian (therefore before entering the Realm of the Tree) AND there was a session of good seeing.

No chance of buying a Lotto ticket... all my luck was used up then and there. I'm pretty happy with the results as this is my best image session of Jupiter to date. Pardon the processing... some of it was done on my phone!

Nice catch Tony

What scope/camera/combo were you using?

Somewhat ambitious, but, you know, in for a penny...

Vixen VC200L f9, 4x Televue Powermate, ZWO ASI 120MC, captured with ~2300 frames @ ~18 fps.

That's a very good image for the relatively poor seeing we have been experiencing over Brisbane of late.

Pushing the VC200L with a x4 Powermate - turned out very nice.:)

Cheers

Thanks Dennis. The scope is a gem, the seeing was quite poor early in the session, but for about half an hour around the transit of the GRS the seeing was much steadier.
