I am 62, and getting older by the day, it is JUNE and we have rain forecast for THREE weeks in Wales (UK)

I remember as a youngster "Flaming June" being good weather

Only place I've ever seen anything resembling Winter in Aussie was Charlotte Pass. Jeremy, week 2 and 3 of the forecast are just placeholders. It will turn out better than that. You'll have super short nights right now anyways, so just do solar....

Bad news about the Welsh weather Jeremy.
I'll be in Wales in about 3-4 weeks time for a quick visit. I'm going to climb one of your beautiful mountains...if the rain stays away:cloudy:

I could do Solar IF I did Radio Astronomy

Radio Astronomy. There is a thought.

I swam 500m in the sea today in winter. Very warm, 21 degrees in an out. Still cloudy at night and always humid. So I sympathise with that. It is very wet here in summer which visitors can not believe.

Jeremy it can be bad here too. Around 1991 I recall 18 months straight no observing - in particular it rained without fail every weekend for 26 weeks straight. Weekdays were fine which made it even more maddening.

So annoying I got out of Astro, got rid of all the gear and took up another hobby.

Then again we can have drought bring basically fair weather for 7 years straight, day after day of blisteringly clear days and boiling hot summers - that drives many people a bit batty too.

Jeremy,

You may envy our winter but how would you like summer? These days 40C is common in western Sydney, Melbourne is hotter than that and Adelaide is ridiculous - they can easily go a week with max > 40 and minimums in the 30s. Those places are on the coast. Go inland and it gets hotter: many places go months with max > 40. Then there is the Pilbera ... :eyepop:
