Hi all,

I'm looking for a nasty little refractor that Nick and I can use to test the Black 3.0 paint. If optically it is ugly it doesn't matter, the paint work just needs to be intact so we at least don't have adhesion problems due to damaged paint work.

What you get: a warm fuzzy feeling knowing that you've contributed to the pool of human knowledge and you get mentioned in our results.

We are doing this testing of our own accord as amateur astronomers. We are not getting paid for this, nor is the maker of Black 3.0 involved with us, and Nick has paid for the paint himself, so we are totally independent. As this paint is not necessarily intended for an astro application, so we want to find out if it is suitable for our niche application. We will be lugging the little donor scope everywhere with us, subjecting it to the same rigors that our own scopes are subjected to, freezing nights, warm storage conditions, and dew. It is only by testing scopes painted with this stuff that we will get a definitive answer. We already have a donor Newt, we just need a frac. This isn't a formal, structured test, more empirical than anything else, but practical, in the field testing all the same.

Alex.
