Great story !
Passionate Amateur Astronomers doing what they love as well as providing valuable information to the scientific community
Like another Jupiter enthusiast Trevor Barry from Broken Hill !!

That's Anthony Wesley or "Bird" as he used to be called in this forum. He hasn't posted here for yonks but even back in the day his images were always stunning. Some of the older members here would remember 'bird' I'm sure.

Certainly nothing 'amateur' about Anthony's images :eyepop:

Professional or amateur, that is the question... but he is certainly top expert in the field :-)

Hi Paul, Anthony regularly posts his Jupiter pics on facebook and in turn they're also regularly shared on our facebook page. Bird is a legend for sure, so great to see ABC doing an article on him.

Thanks all, yes it's been a while since I posted here, due entirely to my own laziness... but I appreciate the kind comments above. It's good to see Jupiter back in the news again :-)

Thanks Suzy,
So great to have someone we sort of know to get into the main news.

His Facebook page is here:

I am hoping that one day he tries for the Homunculus Nebula -
(if he hasn't already and I don't know about it.)

I mentioned it in a thread here:
