IC 2944 (Running Chicken Nebula)


This is my first Narrow band image


IC 2944 is an open cluster with an associated emission nebula found in the constellation Centaurus, near the star Lambda Centauri at a visual magnitude of +3.1 and lies 420 light years away. It features Bok globules, which are frequently a site of active star formation. IC 2944 lies around 6500 light away from Earth amd its around 75 lights years in diameter.

SII 3.0hrs
Total time = 11.45hrs

I have been doing LRGB with HA and OIII for a while. I just got my SII filter a few weeks ago.


So I had to learn how to process NB imaging compared to LRGB.
