When all the world has internet, courtesy of swarms of satellites , everyone can order Robot delivered Pizza.

Headless robots join the pizza trade
If a driverless car arrives at your house, who's going to carry the package, grocery bags or piping-hot pizza to your doorstep?

When it can negotiate multiple flights of stairs in a block of flats without a lift, handle lifts in apartment towers, not get itself lost trying to find delivery destinations in those situations, then correctly nav its way back to the delivery vehicle, then it might be viable for use.
Right now, it's just a fancy demo unit.

I think It it is all getting to a point of totally ridiculous useless technology at this point, maybe 50 years up the track it might be feasible but today, I don't think so.
Soon we wont even have to wipe or own backsides if we choose not to.

I guess when robots do everything for us and we don't have any jobs to worry about we will have plenty of time for astronomy. Or we will all be working in the robot factories making robots to do the jobs we used to do.

Those creating these things have no understanding of safety. Typical of the home-hacker school of engineering they only think about how it’s supposed to work, not the consequences of when it fails, nor the ways these can be misused.

Just because it’s possible doesn’t mean it’s a great idea.

I can just imagine the scene in some parts of town when the spiny-legged robot arrives with the pizza and has to deal with the same (or similar) stuff the pimply kid on a scooter currently has to. It'll produce some instant YouTube moments for sure.

Yep. Another silly use of technology for marketing.

I'm not going to say "it's the future", but I would say it's "a future".

I'm sure gentlemen/women and not so gentle folk commented negatively on smelly, noisy personal steam cars when they hit the scene, scaring the horses.

One thing led to another, and the rest is history.

I am sure there is a future for robots. Digital Automation of all fields is the definitely The future. In fact it is the present. Bomb disposal, construction, mining many very dangerous and expensive processes with high returns for those particular , very expensive machines. I just wonder if delivering a stars wars themed pizza is more related to tech share prices.
