binning

can some one please advise me that when a colour ccd used and image at 2x2 binning images are not in colour. do you need to use filters and align those images to produce a colour image. my ccd is a atik 383l colour

With a colour sensor you have to capture in 1x1, debayer and then software bin 2x2. What happens with a hardware bin is that it bins the mono sensor with no regard for the bayer matrix.
