Hi guys

Very interesting comparison here, showing the image scale obtained in my old imaging rig (with Jupiter last year) versus the new.

It's not really a true comparison of image scale of the 10" versus the 12", because in the image with the 10", I was using the ToUcam - whereas with the 12", I'm using the DMK - which has the added extension of the filter wheel, making the 5x powermate act like a 6x or 6.5x.

So while it's not a 10" v 12" comparison, it's still showing the image scale I got with Jupiter last year, compared to the same stage in the apparition this year (35.1" diameter).

Quite a big increase in scale, and i'm looking forward to when Jupiter is over 45"!

I'll do a similar comparison with Saturn in the next few days, where both were taken with the DMK + 5x powermate - so only the scope has changed.

Thanks Mike

Very interesting.

Significant size diff, but it's how it translates to the detail on the planet's surface which is the truly significant and telling aspect IMO.

I reckon the fact you're already pulling in great detail on Ganymede speaks volumes.

How exciting!
