My possibly overprocessed version of the Running Chicken Nebula.

I think it turned out OKish, but could be better.

Your thoughts on how to improve?

Roughly 10.5 hours exposure time.

That's a great shot. Because you have many hours it would support a fair amount of sharpening imho. Really nice colours.

Nice wide field...and well framed to boot.
Colour palette choice...meh...but not overcooked (I dislike dry chicken)

A strong image just the same.

Nice one :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Looks great Ben, well done.
A bit clipped IMHO, and some of the wispy-ness can probably be teased out a tad more.
I like the colour palette.

Echoing what's been said :) - there's a very good image here already that can be further improved with cropping off the left side & digging out more details.
Also there's something odd with Lambda Centauri star itself

Flickr doesn't want to load it for me but from what I can see on the IIS version, that's really very nice, Ben, congrats!

Many thanks for all the kind words.

I busted out the LHE in Pi and have sharpened it a bit. Attached is a crop of the centre to show a bit of the detail. I still need to finalise it a bit, but I think that is an improvement.

It is a bit black clipped on the red channel. Not sure why it keeps doing that, but it is a problem. Seems to happen when I do the LRGB combination of the Ha.

I also noticed that changing the reference preview for background neutralisation can have a big effect on the finer details.

I forget to mention before that there was a bad refplection on OIII. Hence the weirdness around Lambda Centari. For some reason it is only my OIII filter that does that; almost as if I have it in backwards...

Anyway have sharpened and cleaned it up a bit.

Yeah the PN is pretty nice. Took a while to find what it is but I think it is PN Hf 69 (http://simbad.u-strasbg.fr/simbad/sim-id?Ident=%403268054&Name=PN%20Hf%20%20%2069&submit=submit#lab_plot).
