Was hoping for more data and better skies... but then again, aren't we always? Good news is that I learned to take advantage of crappy seeing to get more RGB so some nights I would have usually packed up on still proved productive.
This is just over 15hrs of data. As always, full res is available (https://www.astrobin.com/405090) on Astrobin.

An absolute ball-tearing cracker of an image! :thumbsup: - I attempted this recently but was thwarted by clouds and iffy collimation.
Here you've shown me what's possible and it's absolutely inspirational. Well done, hats off to you sir! :bowdown:

Fantastic image Lee.
Thank you for the hint with collecting RGB on the nights with worse seeing - I just started imaging session and a few Lum subs I got this evening are just not usable - but after reading your post I switched to collecting RGB - happy days!
Actually that is excellent advice, and easier to miss/dismiss if you're busy going for sheer mass of data.

That's an astonishing image Lee. It has everything: sharp detail in the interacting core, squillions of faint distant galaxies, the faintest extensions of the antennae including a hint of the bit where it curves back at top left, and beautiful colours. The detail looks convincing and solid. The black point is nicely set too, which helps with the faint stuff.

Cheers Mike! :D It's been fun but it looks like my run is at an end for a time... no more clear skies and my focuser may be acting up again (was complaining it reached its outer limit switch at 16k steps, when it has 28k steps... fingers crossed it's nothing a recal won't fix!)

Thanks Suavi :D Glad to hear that hint served you well, I'll definitely be using it in future too. The other side of it is to make sure you leverage those good nights on L, because you can get RGB basically any time. I usually just do BLLRG<repeat> with one dither every 4 frames in there for efficiency purposes, but I think in future I'll go to LL<dither> on those good nights now.
Thanks Mike! :D Yeah, I was hoping to bring out those Antennae more, but I think I need more data. Amusingly I think I did a better job with those 3yrs ago with 1/3 of the data and the Esprit 120.
