Hi all, my AZ-EQ6 is now permanently mounted.

During a 2 star alignment, the tracking is not running while setting up the first star. This means that my target star is continually drifting while I am trying to centre first with Telrad then quickly look in zoom eyepiece and re centre, change out zoom eyepiece and fumble in the 12mm illuminated reticle eyepiece then get the star in the reticle box using the Up and Right buttons. At this point it is still drifting out of the box while I find and press the Enter Button.
When I select the second Alignment star, the mount drives itself towards that star and also turns on the Tracking. This makes the second star easy to get in the recticle box because it stays where you put it.

I have checked that the tracking is set to sidereal. The manual says you can turn on the Tracking if you want to skip doing an alignment (does not say how).

Is it possible to have the mount Tracking while aquiring the first star during a Two Star Alignment?

If have read this far, thank you

Michael.

in utilities menu on your handset there is a tracking option, choose sidereal in order to engage tracking

Hi Nik, thanks for the prompt reply.

My AZEQ-6 has the "Tracking" options under the "Setup Mode" menu.

After Date, Time, Observ Site, Daylight Saving, comes Alignment. This is where I commit to a Two Star Alignment.

At what point are you saying that I can jump down to "Tracking" and turn the tracking on by selecting Sidereal?

I thought that once I had entered the Two Star Alignment sequence, that I had to continue to completion!

Sorry if I am making heavy weather of this, I just can not seem to grasp at which point I can turn on the tracking.

you can bypass alignment when you get to that stage by saying no, then go to the menu and find the utilities menu from there scroll to tracking and choose sidereal. Then scroll through the menus back to setup and choose align
