Today delivered a pleasant surprise with some improved seeing conditions over Brisbane.:)
Occasionally, the turbulent atmosphere settled down and produced some moments of steadier seeing as the swirling cells of air that damage image quality passed by. This allowed me to stop and start the imaging run during the steadier periods, in the hope of collecting images when the seeing was at its calmest.
After processing the AVI’s with AutoStakkert!3 and Registax6 it was quite breathtaking to see the detail pop up from the more chaotic original background.:eyepop:

Dennis,
Well done, you nailed it today!
The granulation and fibrils in the penumbra detail is excellent.

Thanks guys, I appreciate your comments.:)
In my experience, the best "seeing months" for Brisbane for WL solar imaging have been Dec, Jan & Feb when, clouds and summer storms permitting, I can often easily resolve the solar granulation in real time on the screen.

You must have great patience to get these high quality images, love the granulation.

Nice ones Dennis.I have recently got a 158mm apo refractor but am yet to set it up for Solar. These pics have inspired me to get out there again.

Thanks John - the fringe benefits are daytime and warmth, plus I get to bed the same day I woke up!;)
Thanks Derek - that should be a killer 'scope for all types of solar imaging. I can't wait to see the results.:)

Very nice granulation Dennis! Makes me wonder if I should try my Mewlon 250 for some solar. I think I still have an unopened large sheet of Baader solar film around somewhere.

Really like white light solar images. Awesome pics.

Thanks Colin - I find the Mewlons seem well suited to WL solar imaging. I use the Baader ND3.8 which is the astrophotography film rather than the ND5 which is for visual. This gives me plenty of elbow room to use very short exposures, although your 250mm aperture may need the addition of e.g. a Solar Continuum filter to "dim" the light as it were?
Thanks Marc, appreciate your comments.:)
Cheers
