I bought a 4x Powermate off the classifieds section a while back and today was the first chance I got to use it. It's absolutely awesome :)

I managed a montage in CaK, White light and Ha using my 102mm solar array and it turned out great. Strangely it was the white light image that was the most troublesome to process - must figure out why sometime...

Thanks all, that powermate has really made all the difference - hoping for a sunny weekend coming up for some follow up shots.

I'm using the 174MM Cool with a pair of 102mm Lunt scopes side by side. The scope on the left swaps between the Lunt Hershel wedge and the Lunt Cak module. I used to have three scopes side by side, but I really couldn't justify having a dedicated CaK scope. I find the Orion ED optics are a little colourful at the edges of the white light view, so one day I plan to get the Explore Scientific/Saxon 102 f7 APO to complement the rig.

Very nice Jonathan, the weekend forecast does look sunny but the temps indicate westerlies which in my experience, coincide with poor seeing conditions?

Let's hope otherwise.:)

There is a little fixed pattern noise from the camera in the white light image, but very nice image set just the same :thumbsup:

I have to confess to stuffing up the capture of the white light - I still had the force debayer of a colour camera set and it didn't play nicely when I switched to mono....

Hopefully the seeing plays at the weekend!

I was looking outside last night and the stars were tack sharp, so I rolled out the big dob to enjoy some stunning views of jupiter only to be met with an image so blurry that a lesser experienced astronomer would swear that the scope was broken!!!!

Ah, the joys of our astmosphere...

Yes - it sure is weird sometimes "up there", as I had a similar experience and came away with both some reasonable captures but mostly "bin them immediately" AVI's all in the same session?
