This one is NGC 5946 in Norma from which I collected some data a couple of days ago. I've never imaged it before and I guess I can see why because it's not very exciting, the main point of interest being that the stars are somewhat reddened because of interstellar absorption.

Cheers

We like your image because it tells a story about the galaxy. The small angular diameter and the location in Norma suggests that we are looking at a very distant object through the Milky Way. The reddening that you mentioned fits very nicely with that.

As usual, technically very well done.

+1 with M&T:thumbsup:

The only reference I found on actual studies of this one was an abstract of a paper which placed it about 10.7kpc away from the Sun, and 5.8kpc from the Galactic centre. It also stated the object had lower metallicity than was previously thought.
