Big Match

I was facing towards Spica and Corvus at about 1pm last night when a slow, very bright, orange meteor went across between them. It was heading towards the south east horizon and lit up to about magnitude -6. It was just like someone striking a big match. Does it belong to an annual meteor shower?

Hmm interesting because HRH and I saw much the same thing while out walking at around 9PM last night but headed from east to west. I can't be sure but I was certain I could even hear some noise a (hissing crackling type noise) as the meteor expired in a ball of flame.
