60 Minutes this Sunday coming .... the ' woes ' of Aircraft Manufacturer Boeing.
Including interviews with Senior Pilots regarding the 737 MAX 8 .... awful comments about this Aeroplane.

What a mess Boeing is in .... Class Law Suite for the loss of over 300 lives .... could this ' Bankrupt ' Boeing ...??
Never told any purchaser about the MCAS System .... 10 seconds on / 5seconds off .... into a 40*degree nose dive ... Pilots had 5 seconds to try and recover the Plane .... then it would start all over again. Poor blighters.
... and every time it repeated itself, the Plane was getting closer and closer to the ground ... imagine the ' chaos ' in the Cockpit .... pull up, pull up and the distracting sounds ..... too much information.
This happened because ( MCAS ) was relying on only 1 Sensor instead of several to ' keep things in order '

Other factors might come close to crippling Boeing, but not the class action;
their annual profit is around US$100 billion if I remember correctly.

I liked the bit where Boeing do their own certification and not the FAA, talk about giving the fox the keys to the henhouse..:screwy:

Watched the program. Man, that is messed up. I know one thing, I won't be setting foot on a 737 MAX.

Regarding the probable eventual outcome, I agree with you Lewis, but there
the similarity ends.
Firstly, the Comets' structural failures were not the result of any kind of skullduggery, or attempts to hide defects, they were the result of ignorance.
Any first year mechanical engineering student would know better than to fit
square windows to a mechanism that was entering largely unknown territory
[as far as stresses were concerned]. After the years of tank testing revealed
the problem, and the windows were changed, it became a wonderful aircraft,
although by then the 707 had entered the market and stolen the U.K's
thunder. IMHO the Comet 4c was the most beautiful airliner ever built.
The British Labour government, the U.S. government, and the Comet tragedies between them destroyed the British aviation industry.

Cracks developed at the ' corners ' of the Square Windows ... eventually the Airframe opened up and sections of the Comets Airframe came apart.... decompression happens at the same time.

I ran across this article on F35 Intergrandular Corrosion affecting F35s at Williamtown. I find it amazing that an aircraft that is purportedly designed for carrier ops is coroding in the presence of salt in the environment. It seems the consultants (and what are KPMG doing consulting on aircraft) are recommending parking the F35s in dehumidifier hangers!
As all F35s are planned to rotate through Williamtown eventually the whole bunch will have corrosion issues.

We don’t need F35s. They are completely redundant and forced upon us. We need cyber security - just ask Alastair MacGibbon.
If anything, we should have bought more F/A-18s and more anti-missile systems (only coming online now)
