Hi Folks
No doubt you have all seen more than enough Eta Carina images.
I thought I would share this one with you, due to the comment received when I posted it in another forum.
Fellow ASSA member Chris P. quickly commented "Looks like a Rat eating a block of cheese"
And indeed it does.!
I had been staring at it for hours while processing it, and never saw it. LOL.!
just goes to show what a fresh set of eyes can pick up.
The tech bits : 31 exposures @ 120sec using an ASI1600MM cooled to -20C, via Ha filter, thru a 200mm Tamron Tele lens of 1970's vintage.
Software included PHD2 guiding, APT for capture, DSS for stacking including bias, flats, & darks, and Photoshop for some minor contrast and cropping adjustments.
Taken at an astrocamp in March, which was the easy bit.
The hard bit was the processing.
Still not sure what I am doing, though this result has turned out OK to my eye.
Next steps as time permits : add in some RGB when I learn how.!
