Just a short 90 minutes worth of 3 minute subs of running chicken. It's just nice to be out. A few issues again but nothing major. Might add some Ha to it from home sometime this week. Weather permitting.

Hi Tony. First impressions were wow I like that. Looking closer though I see that all those blue stars are more chromatic aberration blue rings.
The trick here is to run deconvolution on the blue channel to reduce the blue stars before doing the colour combine so the blue stars don't create such large halos. Or use some other star reduction technique on the blue channel only.
Another way is if you have Adobe Lightroom then it has a very good colour fringe reduction tool that gets rid of the blue rings easily. For some reason that tool is not in Photoshop. Also Noel Carboni has a reduce blue/violet halos tool but it can leave a dark ring where the blue was. Lightroom does not do that.
Lovely detail and a very good natural processing style.
Greg.
The colours look good on this and its well framed.
Good tip from Greg on deconvolving the blue stars, keep forgetting about that one.
well done

Nice pic Tony. And great tip about reducing pesky star halos in a single colour channel.

A pleasing result Tony  Greg's suggestion is worth a crack. I agree, sometimes (Well a lot of the time really ) it is just good to be put doing this caper  I'm out at my obso right now, clear skies no wind getting cold and sipping hot coffee lustening to Radio National and browsing IIS, while the new mount and the scope chugg away...very pleasant :fishing::cheers:

the bloated star i think is partially due to not using an UV IR cut filter with the asi1600mc. I just need to take it out of my mono filterwheel and chuck it in the camera.

Images like yours make us "Narrowing the band" purists who concentrate on the nebulosity realize that we can be missing out on the stars.

Thanks M&T, usually I'd shoot narrowband in my backyard but I'm still in the honeymoon phase with the OSC camera.
