I am wondering what are the coordinates of the SCP. As far as I am aware it is declination -90 degrees but Right Ascension values seem to lose meaning at the pole with any value as valid as any other. Has anyone had experience for instance in guiding a GOTO to point at the SCP by inputting coordinates? Appreciate any information.
Geoff guiding directly at the SCP can be very challenging due to the slow rotation, the actual coordinates i am not quite sure of.
You need to be pretty well set up for this one, even using PHD can be problematic

It is Dec -90°, RA anything.

So you pretty much don't have to worry about guiding errors in RA? Sounds like my type of DSO.

Actually you do, to some extent - because tracking errors in R.A. mean the field rotates. If the scope were centred on dec -90, the resulting image could look like it had astigmatism. However for that to be evident the errors would need to be pretty gross.
