Despite the seeing I decided to pull an all-nighter.

Left the gear set up for Jupiter after imaging Saturn earlier in the night.

Must have been out capturing around the same time as Dave Pretorius, although his image appears taken perhaps 30-60 minutes later than mine, judging by the movement of the STrD-1 disturbance toward the planet's limb.

Pretty happy with this one, despite the blurriness.

Happy to have captured a few white spots in the south polar region, as well as red jnr and the STrD-1 disturbance itself. There's also an interesting red spot just below and to the right of the STrD-1. Chris Go also captured this on the 15th of Feb.

The moon in the image is Callisto.

Quite a few more AVIs to work through:)

Hi ispom.

Red Spot jnr is a feature which was identified quite some time ago (during last 18 months or so).

Also goes by the name of Oval BA.

Was close to GRS 12 months ago but has now moved to the other side of the planet.

Best wishes:)

Hi Matt

That’s an excellent image – well worth the gruelling challenge of an all nighter. There is a lot to be seen here, and all so nicely resolved. I’ll have to play catch up with you Jupiter geeks and study the disc to understand all the features I am looking at.

Cheers

Dennis

Thanks Dennis

It's amazing how much Jupiter changes from season to season.

Seems that every year there's a couple of new things to look at, beyond all the "regular" features.

Hope you get some imaging done soon. Always look forward to your pics.

Matt, I saw it just before lunch today... I'll give you a call later today. Probably no chance to do any more imaging for a while now as we're moving house next weekend into a rental at Jerrabomberra so we're packing and organising stuf ...

cheers, Bird

 Great Matt, think I recall you have a moonlite motorized focuser as well i'm sure it will aid in the seasons Joop shots

Cheers Stu

Yeah. Have the MoonLite focuser.

Don't think the blur is the result of focus in this case, if that's what you're refering to? Suspect the seeing was the culprit, as well as the altitude.
