Shame it's going to happen pretty low in the sky.

I saw a really good daytime one some years ago. This one is far to low, 4 degrees at the start, at my place.

This is definitely on my to do list. The disappearance here in Tasmania is at 8 degree altitude, which is just okay. But the weather forecast is a shocker at the moment. It looks like the whole state will be clouded out and I will not even have the chance of chasing clear skies anywhere in Tas.

The weather forecast for Thursday evening is looking good so hope to catch the reappearance. I have no affiliation with Quasar Pub. but all the relevant info is in Astronomy 2019, it is an great resource for info on eclipses, planetary satellite transits, occultations etc.

A few images from last nights Saturn occultation. Had lovely mild temps and clear skies for the event, seeing was good earlier but deteriorated as an westerly wind change started to pass through.
Taken with an North Group 127mm F7.5 apo, EQ6, Canon 550d @ 400iso X 180th sec.

Thanks guys, was glad to have good conditions though the seeing got more shifty toward midnight. Images are single frames, no stacking, have more frames but they don't really add anything except showing the gap between the Moon and Saturn getting wider.

We're due another three in Australia for this year.
One of them I just found out from the astro 2019 book & calandar is a daylight one on May 23rd. Visible all Australia except NW.

August - Visible: Brisbane, Cairns, Canberra, Rockhampton, Sydney, Townsville.

September - Visible: Alice Springs, Broome, Cairns, Darwin, Perth, Townsville.
