The link below is to an image that took me quite a while to process.
The original RAW data had over 32 field stars, the majority of which are revealed here after much masking and layering.
Not exactly deep sky either....but then again...Regulus is shining like a beacon.
Hope you enjoy the view

Nice image Peter, similar to one done by a photographer named Justin Ng, he too captured stars in the background. Yours looks more Sci Fi, I like the the colour and definition in the moon. :thumbsup:

Thanks guys...the core data was from my Royal Greenwich prize winning entry from last year (runner-up)
I was archiving the files to a new 24Tb NAS drive
and decided to take a closer look at the longer exposures...I spotted quite a few field stars, then proceeded to layer and blend them with the Greenwich data.
It took a while !
A pity I didn't think to do that a year ago :lol:

Stunning! Really wonderful stuff - and I too enjoyed watching the Einstein mini series where they re-enacted that journey to Africa to photograph this.
Very well done Sir! :bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:

Ta Andy. I actually have not seen the mini-series, (I refuse to pay for Foxtel) I only became aware of it after writing a chapter for my book (yes, I'm writing a book) that covered Eddingtons exploits.
In any event...it was a stunning prediction by Einstein to test general relativity. Wonderful stuff.

Thanks guys...I've also been looking at my archived 2006 eclipse RAW data. Gee, DSLR cameras have come a long way since '06 as the data isn't a patch on the 2017 files. Anyway, I'm making plans for the 2020 eclipse in Chile...it will be interesting to see what the latest offerings from Canon etc. will be like by then. :thumbsup:

Very kind comments.
Thanks :thanx:
I'm rather looking forward to my next eclipse, I'll likely pack the new toy, my AP92 Stowaway. Not sure which camera, but the 5DIV has served me well to date.
