Captured the Tarantula Nebula last night for the first time under A1 seeing conditions
8” f5 newt on EQ6-R mount
26 x 4 minute dithered subs
15 x darks
ISO 800
Canon 600D unmodded
PHD2 guiding at 0.88 to 1.20 arc sec error
Stacked in DSS
Processed in Startools
I planned to capture 40 subs but it descended below a tree at 25 deg before I could finish
Huge star field and a bit overwhelming when you see your first sub but a beautiful Nebula just the same

Awesome capture Martin. I love this object too. I've got nearly 9hrs of it from last year trying to create an image close to yours but my equipment at the time just wasn't capable. I think it's an awesome part of the night sky.
Well done

Martin that is fantastic. Print it up and frame it for sure.

Thanks so much Ryan and Alex
I couldn’t believe how easy it was to find this Nebula , Stellarium took me straight to it and perfectly framed it without any tweaking of the EQMOD control pad
What a beautiful night , you could almost touch the stars.
After capturing the Tarantula I started on Eta Carina ( just finished processing now and posted )
Everything is going right for me at the moment and enjoying it immensely
Cloudy nights for the next few days so catching up on some sleep and social activities
Thanks again

A reprocessed version of the Tarantula Nebula
Stretched the image a bit more , adjusted HDR, Contrast,Wavelet Sharpening , and Life modules . Bumped up the colour bias and tightened the stars too
This time the Nebula stands out a bit more from the huge dense star field

Wow Martin. Your images are just getting better and better! There is so much faint dust in the background there which unlike my images isn’t hidden by noise, the dithering is really helping. The image is so sharp as well the fine details in the nebula are really coming out.

Thanks Paul appreciate it
Yes I must admit everything’s going really well at the moment with the new gear and capture
The seeing conditions were A1 on Friday night which helps a lot, plus dithering and darks are a must for DSLR’s in any conditions
Really enjoying AP at the moment and the 8” f5 newt is doing much more than I ever expected
Thanks again and clear skies !!
