Canon 50D Modified Issue

I purchased a Canon 50D Modified (IR665nm Filter fitted).
It looks like the mod was cocked up and the eBay seller has disappeared (Shock Horror):mad2:.
Can anyone advise me?
There are apparitions appearing on all subs and darks taken with the camera.
Could it be the filter or do you think the sensor has been damaged?

I thought it could use DeepSky Stacker to remove the apparition by using the Darks, but this has failed.

I remember I read somewhere sometime that this kind of problem is caused by LED and piece of plastic that works as light pipe (not sure if 50D was discussed, but I am sure it was Canon)..

Removal of the LED solved the problem.
I will try to find the original article/discussion and post it here (when I find it.. )

I'm going to load magic lantern onto the 50D and have a go at disabling the live view.

How long were the subs? If it is a static pattern I assume there would be a way to remove it via calibration.

Perhaps also the replacement filters' edges should be blackened.

I found the discussion I mentioned earlier on another forum - it was about Canon 5D. (https://www.zvjezdarnica.com/astroforum/index.php?topic=412.msg3245#msg3245 )
On image below, red square marks LED, yellow square is where light goes in and the problem is because this part is made of transparent plastic, so it acts like light pipe.... guiding light onto sensor.
Affected models are 5dmk2,5dmk3,6d...

Its definately excessive sensor temperature caused by Live View.

Thanks, ICE in Space you Guys are great.
I put the 50D in the fridge to test this Amp glow theory. The apparition definitely reduced at a lower temp.
I have just discovered the imports of FLATS (Thanks Marc). Can you believe DeepSky Stacker cancelled out the artefact when I add some FLATS frames :eyepop:.

I'll give this Camera a good workout at SPSP next month.
