Best Place to Source Meade Repair Spare Parts ?

Hi all,

Managed to repair my Drive Board but the Actual AZ motor seems to be faulty (intermittent drive except at max speed) confirmed by swapping AZ/EL boards .

Anyone have an idea where I can source spare parts , being a 2009 Meade LT-6 is probably asking a lot though I'd bet thay are using the same motors today. It is a simple 12V DC motor but no markings at all.

Shape/appearance only may do.
Most of those products use cheap Chinese components.

Most certainly a cheaper type though quite heavy for its size and needs quite a low voltage to start. Only about 1Volt

I found one that might be ok Speed is listed as 3000RPM no idea what the Meade one is would think that it needs to be correct speed though.

Speed is controlled by other means (closed loop with encoder), so I wouldn't worry about max specs for application in Meade telescope.
The most important is size - it has to replace the original motor.

Could you post some pictures of your (faulty) motor?

Well, $14 is not much to risk.
This one looks like something from old cassette player, or some car-toy.

Yep, this seems to be the same motor...


When experimenting, did you swap the motors only, or you kept encoder and gear on the shaft (a small green PCB under the gear.. because the fault may be there)?

I haven't actually removed the EL Ass, so no haven't tried swapping the encoder boards only the drive boards. the LED is lit not sure what else is on it not much by the looks and the wheel with dark/light stripes which I guess is for feedback of speed looks ok.

Exactly right..
Bisades LED, there is also phototransistor or diode.. very simple circuit.

It may be good to check (with CRO) if it does generate pulses..

Have to dust off the CRO , doesn't get much use now.
