Hi all , I had the new to me ED100 out last night for 1st light and all tho the seeing was pretty average the scope performed very well .
At 150 -200x the image was super sharp with zero CA seen in my eyes , very good .

Also at 300x on an un-driven ( Mizar EQ ) mount the moon moves very fast across the FOV .

Hand held Google pixel2 held over my TV radian 3mm .

Zero processing except a slight crop and resize .

I like the 3rd image particularly as it really makes the mountains in that image appear sheer and 3 dimensional
Excellent work for a hand held!

You don't need a driven mount to image the Moon anyway

 No you don't but by the time you get everything aligned by hand at 300x it's moved out of the FOV , over and over frustrating as mate !
Give me a driven EQ any day . :D .

:hi: Thanks Ross , yes the Apennine's mountains , just rising into sunrise with the 4 peaks jutting into sunshine , these are almost the same size and height as the Southern alps of NZ , huge :eyepop: and spectacular in any telescope .

Nice result Brian, it certainly does race across the f.o.v. at 300x; did you use a high shutter speed on whatever a Google pixel2 is?

:D Aye ? ,, nah mate it was set a sun ( daylight ) mode , the processing of the input is impressive with this phone , it's learnt that I shoot the darker shots . . eg. night time .

It's asked many times if I want to go to ' Night mode ' ,,, ? did it once and never again as it's great for down to earth shots with people but it terrible for nightscapes . :D .
