Tried a serious effort the region around Eta Carina with the new set up.

Nikon D5500 50mm on BWM.

High ISO at 3200. 100 20 second subs and 20 dark frames.

Stacked in Deep Sky Stacker, processed in Startools, Photo shop and Gimp.

I am very happy with this set up as yesterday there were clouds every where and so much that I did not set up the 80mm and heq5 … later I wished I had but was able to plonk the BWM down with out particularly worrying about a decent PA and after disgarding the 18 / 50 mm lens because it would not hold focus and going back to the 50 x 200 lens managed 100 short 20 second subs which gave reasonably crisp stars..

Cloudy again today.

Thanks Calton.
My message is that folk looking in here and wondering how to get started should have a go with just their camera and the lens it came with...they only really need Deep Sky Stacker and they will produce very acceptable images....you should have a go☺
Thanks again.
