Possible NSW Central Coast astronomy morning tea.
We have had a couple of these in the past. Interest?

Hi Glen,
As discussed, I would be pleased if the gang could come together again for a cuppa and a chat (and some peer support)- no point in waiting for the weather to improve.
The question is: What is the best time and place for everyone?
I am happy to nominate for Westfield Tuggerah, 10:00 next Saturday 16th March, if anyone has a better suggestion please nominate it.
… Anyone! :hi:

Thanks Glen for trying to get the party started.

I may be able to make that. Any excuse for strong coffee!

I originally thought to suggest a weekday, less crowds, quicker service ...
then I thought of those who work who might want to come.
so suggested a Saturday...
now I realise some people who only work weekends might be disadvantaged.
So, lets work out who wants to join us, and maybe then decide on the better day. If enough interest is shown …
But some of us need to get out of the house
(even if it is dangerous to do so sometimes ... :scared2: ...)
Just putting it out there.

Hi guys, been awhile.
Off topic but what is the status of the Pony Club these days?
Ominously I haven't seen it mentioned for some time?
Greg.

Hi Greg,

Still active, just with the current weather, it is quiet.

Last winter and spring saw it frequented quite well. One night, we even had about a dozen scopes up there, and we also had an outreach night for some overseas visitors, too.

Regarding the meet-up... the 16th suits me well. Weekdays will be difficult, due to work as you say, Allan.

Could be discussed at the morning tea. It maybe getting 'less dark', based on comments from long time attendees, due to Sydney and Central Coast growth and light pollution. On my trip there last July, with a good turn out I might add, there was noticable skyglow to the south and west, and really only the north seemed dark. There was a discussion a couple of years back about finding another potential site, possibly in the Watagan National Park west of Morisset. I checked our a few sites up there, but they were camp site type places with trees crowding the clearing. It is dark though, with only a bit of glow from the Newcastle direction. If we could find the right spot it would be very nice, but of course further to travel for many people, but camping over-night might negate that concern for a weekend type trip.

Definitely a good topic for discussion in Tuggerah..

As it is, I drive 45 minutes to MM each time up there. To go a little further is no big thing, for a darker site.

Enjoy yourselves guys.
I don't think I can make the 16th for Morning Tea.
If things change I'll let you know.

Sorry but can't make this one guys. Away in caravan until the 1st April. Hoping also that May might be a good time to frequent the PC or Bretti.

As we have only three potential attendees, at this point, and given the weather forecast for Saturday, i am suggesting a deferral to a time and day which might be of more interest.

Not a problem.
Not unexpected.
Thanks to Glen and those who responded.
However, I will still be down there from 9 till 11 as Jo has a haircut appointment (at my suggestion) and the weekly shopping will follow.
I guess sharing my near death experience, etc. will have to wait.
No spoilers.
