Using SkySafari 5 Pro on my tablet, looking for a piece of Rubylith, 200mm x 135mm.

On ebay, they are asking $9 for a single 11" x 14" sheet, and $35 for postage from the USA!

Does anyone have an Australian source for this?
Is there an alternative that will do the job?

Thanks
Chris

Chris if that’s on an iPad you don’t need rubylith - there’s a setting buried in iOS which will turn the display deep red.

Yes, its under Settings –> General –> Accessibility –> Display Accommodations but you need (I believe) iOS 11 or later. Unfortunately my iPad is sufficiently old that it will only take iOS 10 so no good for me. Best I can do is a greyscale screen with a (yet to be obtained) red filter.

Android I'm afraid. Samsung Galaxy S2.
But thank you anyway!

Avoid American sellers on ebay. These rip you off with 'shipping costs'.
Chinese sellers are usually free and European or UK sellers have reasonable shipping costs.
And the 'red' mode of iOS won't help, because the displays of iOS (and Android) devices have backlight bleeding leaving white light through.

Amazon (https://www.amazon.com.au/Pack-Transparency-Correction-Christmas-Decorations/dp/B01M1HIER8/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1551346510&sr=8-8&keywords=transparent+red+foil) sells 12 sheets A4 foil of red sheets for $65.

Not happy to spend that sort of money, so...
Checked out Officeworks and spent $4.20 on a red letter file.
I now have a red filter that folds around my tablet within it's clip on cover.
If it is still too bright I can slip a 2nd sheet inside the first.
Very happy with the result, and the money saved towards another eyepiece!

I've often used multiple layers of red cellophane available at Woolworths, Big W, etc.
