IC 2118 Witch head nebula

Thanks Ryan. I enjoy going after these fainter objects and I wonder if more hours of exposure would make much difference or perhaps longer exposures?

I see people sometimes take ~10 hours or more.

Looks clear again tonight; I'm torn whether to go after faint stuff or get some instant gratification on a brighter object.

I took 16x5 min of Sharpless 308 last night too but it's fainter than the Witch.

IC 2118 is entirely a reflection nebula, so predominately blue in hue. Won't respond too well to Ha filters. Well, shouldn't anyways... :rolleyes: No red emission lines in it.

I'll give the Witch one last try visually this season this coming New Moon. Your photo will also serve for star hoping to the brighter edges :thumbsup:
