What is the best book on making telescopes?

Hi There,
I am going to build my first Dob. Which book/s would be the most helpful. I am just in the planning stages so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Big question to answer is 10" or 12" :screwy:
I am really enjoying my 6" sky-watcher so now I can take my time building a new scope.

Have a look at "The Dobsonian Telescope" by David Kriege and Richard Berry.

The advice I was given very early on was to read books like Kreige & Berry, then throw them away (figuratively speaking). Books like that will teach you the principles but there are often better ways of fulfilling those principles now than when the books were published.

On the other hand, you will probably get a lot more out of talking to one or two people that have made scopes before. The downside to that, though, is that they prefer one way over another that doesn's always take your fancy.

There are good sites on the web so I'd advise a good search for them, plus any books you can lay your hands on, mix it all together with a pinch of personal preferences and your first telescope should come out looking not too bad.

So then you'll need to make another one to improve on the one you just made.... hasn't anyone told you that telescope making is addictive?
