hi. I have just purchased a skywatcher ed80 and it will be mounted to a canon 650d . when i get a field flattener, will I need any additional spacers. thanks.

if its a dedicated flattener than short answer, no. If you use their canon ring, you shouldnt need it.

Check the distance..55 mm from flatner to sensor...I think I had to do a small fiddle ... anyways measure it..check that its 55 mm also☺

I was fitting a Nikon so maybe you wont have any problems

I just purchased the 80ED SW 0.85x reducer/flattener for my 72ed and canon 600d and the stars look nice and round to me in the corners. If you are being picky then you might need a set of delrin spacer rings to get it spot on but out of the box, mine works fine.

Thanks, i have just found on bintel site, no need for any extension with flattener/reducer with dslr.

I believe that is correct.....well it is for my 72ed.
The camera looks to still be in the same relative position with the FF/FR now taking the space where the extension was.

I have a ed80, 600d and reducer/flattener and it works great.
