NGC 2362 is a prominent cluster in Canis Major that doesn't seem to be imaged that often. I finished this off the other night during a brief period of clear sky (clouded over 5 minutes after I had finished)
Cheers
Steve

Very nice. Good to see the occasional open cluster.

Thanks M&T. I certainly don't do them that often. I wanted something easy that I could finish quickly.
Thanks Marc

Nice image Steve. These star clusters are sometimes hard to present with the same vitality they show visually. You. You've done a good job here.
I also like your red donut image as well.
Greg.

At a casual glance, one might think , yeah, a nice capture of an open cluster.
But with closer inspection: there is no scattering, beautiful ultra-thin and rainbow-like diffraction spikes (not some putzy photoshop effect )
plus the sheer intensity of stellar footprints from distant suns.
All are the hallmarks of superb optics.
Beautiful. Just Beautiful.
Well done Steve. :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks Peter. That's high praise indeed.
Thanks Greg. I seem to do star clusters better than other things for some reason. Glad you liked the Abell 13 image too.

Yes, very pretty cluster, we should hit open clusters more often, huh?

Thanks Mike. Yes I agree. There are lots around worth imaging. Of course some of the less condensed ones are pretty boring.

Fantastic image Steve!
I absolutely love the visual isolation between the blue stars in the open cluster and the red background stars. It feels very much like what would be expected through an eye piece but with a little more saturation. Very well done

Thanks Rick. I guess it wasn't bad for a "quickie".
