Thanks for looking.
Image Reprocessed....
Still a little noisy.. more subs next time.
The trap is now not as blown out and image shows more detail than before
Comments, suggestions welcome :)

Sorry Geoff, I'll go against the grain on this one. I like the colours but the noise reduction or something else in the processing destroyed all the details. Did you have bad seeing or was the original shot noisy? Anyway a repro is in order and you should then have a real cool shot.

Ditto, nice colours but the detail is sadly lacking.
Stars look a little bloated and the trap is not resolved at all.
...there are more than enough "M42 standard candles" on the web
from which you can gauge your efforts or better help tweak the final image.
Stick with it

G'day Geoff. I have to admit, my prejudice against OSC images takes a bit of a hit when I see the colors and balances you have achieved.

I just need to ask if you took this from Briz and if so, did you use any filter/s ?
Thanx,,, champ,,,

Hi Bob
Yes, taken from Brisbane. I'm 12km from the CBD.
No filters, Pixinsight DBE usually fixes any gradients pretty well
Cheers Geoff

Much better than the original Geoff
Nice details and the colour is pretty nice, only the B&W/silvery looking core area might benefit from a bit of a rework..?
