Made a late decision last night to have a go at jupiter this morning, seeing wasn't great and there were lots of clouds to dodge, but not unhappy with the result.

Scope: http://www.acquerra.com.au/astro/lexx.html
capture details: 30 seconds each in R,G,B @ 35 fps

nice one bird,

that STrD disturbance has changed shape I think. I wonder if that is how the GRS evolved. The GRS even last april was entrenched in the SEB, but has come away and is now completely in the STrZ.

This season is going to be soooooo much fun!

Excelletn result, Anthony. I'm itching to get my scope onto Jupiter again but it's been cloudy all week and is expected to remain so until next Wednesday ! :(

Yes, also notice the orange colour to the polar storm south of the StrD. That's not oval BA (I think) so I wonder if it's another white storm changing colour?

Or is that oval BA? I've lost track of where everything is this season...

Hi Anthony

Wow - that is a stunning image for the current apparition. I pointed my C9.25 and DMK at Jove on Tuesday morning and didn't even bother to capture anything. You have done remarkably well to produce such a detailed portrait!

Cheers

Dennis

The seeing was best around 4am, just as I was starting to image. As Jupiter got higher the seeing deteriorated, I didn't keep anything from later in the session, despite Jupiter being quite high at the end.

It seems like the magic time of night around here is 3-4am, should be good in about a months time :-)

looks like BA, and this comparison really shows up the changes in the disturbance in th STrZ.

BA looks to have shrunk and the whole STrZ widened!

what a difference a month makes!`

Update: According to the guys on ALPO jupiter, this is *not* oval BA!! So maybe another SSTB oval is changing colour?
