Heq 5 cable

Hi all,
I'm not sure on which cable to get to connect the mount to my laptop.
Can i buy a standard cable then get a serial to usb converter or get one of these http://www.store.shoestringastronomy.com/products_eq.htm
I have an old laptop with no serial ports.
I will go the eq mod way but before i order cables it would be good if someone here could help.
